Bigger biceps and deep pectoral muscles have always been the reason for people to hit the gym. But a better physical appearance is the not the only incentive a steady workout regime adds to your life. Regular exercise offers incredible benefits which can improve nearly every aspect of your life. Exercise increases the production of various hormones that make you feel happier and helps you sleep better, which reduces stress in your life.
What about Sex And Weight Training?
When you train with weights, your sympathetic nervous system gets activated and it then encourages blood-flow to the genital region. The result of a study (Stanten & Yeager) conducted in 2003 reported that women were more sexually responsive following 20 minutes of vigorous exercise and amongst males, short intense exercise was linked to increase in testosterone levels which may stimulate sexual interest and behaviour. Libido in men depends on testosterone as well as physiological factors.
40 Or Above? Train Harder To Have An Impressive Sex Life.
Sexual life is considered to be on a decline after the age of 40. Well, not if you exercise regularly. Exercise has a very good impact on your sex life beyond your 40's. A study that was conducted on 31,000 men aged between 53-90 established that men over 50 who were physically active and exercise regularly had 30% lower risk of impotency as compared to men who didn't exercise. Another study conducted by Harvard University which had people from their 40's and 60's, showed that people who exercised continuously even after they reached 40, the frequency and enjoyment of sexual intercourse did not diminish.
Not just with older men, exercise also impacts men in their middle age if they have sedentary lifestyles and suffer from poor sexual health. In a study published in the US National Library of Medicine, men who had sedentary lifestyles were put on simple routine of six minutes of walking around their house, experienced a reduction in symptoms of erectile dysfunction by 71%. In another study performed in 78 sedentary men who were made to jog for 60 minutes per day, their sexual behaviour including frequency, adequate functioning and satisfaction showed signs of marked improvement.
The Harder You Go In The Gym, The Harder You Go In Bed
Therefore, it is not just the visible physical appearance that benefits from exercising regularly but there are numerous other benefits that you experience from working out, like a drastic improvement in your sexual life. Looks like you've got more reasons for you to hit gym daily.
