When a cricket legend like Sachin Tendulkar is involved with the launch of a smartphone, we can't really ignore it. The smartphone has been manufactured by Smartron, a relatively new start-up which has been inspired by the master blaster himself. The smartphone will be available from today onwards in two variants i.e. with 32 GB storage priced at Rs 12,999 and the 64 GB variant priced at Rs 13,999.
The SRT.phone will have Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box and sports a full-HD 5.5-inch (1080X1920 pixels) display panel. It will also have the Snapdragon 652 SoC under the hood which has 4 cores that has a clock speed of 1.8Ghz. The processor will be complimented by 4GB of RAM. The smartphone will also have a 13-megapixel primary camera with PDAF and a dual-LED flash. The primary camera will also have an aperture of f/2.0 and a wide-angle front facing the camera. The phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor in the rear panel.
It also has QuickCharge 2.0 that is powered by a USB type-C charger and has a battery capacity of 3,000 mAH. The battery is expected to last for at least a day with heavy usage; however, there is no word how fast the phone can really charge.
Granted that storage can be an issue with smartphones, Smartron is also offering unlimited storage via its cloud service “TronX”. This implies that users can store images and other data on a cloud, which is an offering at no additional cost.
It can be assumed that Smartron launching a phone in this price range can only mean one thing. The Indian startup company will be competing with the likes of Xiaomi's Redmi Note 4 and Moto G5.
The smartphone is available exclusively on Flipkart, starting today. Buyers can also avail a further Rs 1,500 discount if they exchange an older phone and get free Sachin Tendulkar back covers for the phone and a free extended warranty of two years. Axis bank cardholders can get an additional 5% cashback as well.
