IPL 2018 will see Royal Challengers Bangalore travel to Wankhede to face Mumbai Indians in tonight’s match. In a tie between the two underachieving teams of this season (so far), both teams will look to ignite a spark which would help them go a long way in the tournament. While Royal Challengers Bangalore have only won a single game in their three matches, defending champions Mumbai Indians have failed to register a single victory this season. Both teams that rely heavily on their batting prowess will hope their batsmen will provide the fireworks on the big day at Wankhede. On the side, Team India captain Virat Kohli will face his vice-captain Rohit Sharma in a game which features some of T20 cricket’s biggest names. We tell you the top five players you should have in your IPL 2018 Fantasy League squad as these two teams battle it out in Mumbai:
IPL 2018 Fantasy League: Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (MI vs RCB)
Tonight’s game between Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore promises to be a run fest with both teams relying heavily on their batting. How does that affect your Fantasy League squad? Who are the top players to look out for? We tell you the top five picks you need to choose for your IPL 2018 Fantasy League team:
1. Suryakumar Yadav
How good has this man been? One of the lesser-known players in the Mumbai Indians squad at the beginning of IPL 2018. Suryakumar Yadav has turned into a star turner and has been a key player for the defending champions. Yadav has been consistent in his three innings contributing considerably to the Mumbai total.
He was so good in the first two games of IPL 2018 that he was promoted to opening the innings and he didn’t disappoint there either. That’s some good news for IPL 2018 Fantasy League players because his promotion now means that Suryakumar will bat, and going by the rich vein of form he is in, he will score runs.
2. Hardik Pandya
A lot of Mumbai Indians loyalists will feel that if their team has to get into the groove, Hardik Pandya has to lend a hand. Hardik had a decent opening game before he was forced to sit out against Sunrisers Hyderabad due to an ankle injury.
Although he came back against Delhi Daredevils at Wankhede, he did very little, getting out rather quickly for a couple of runs. The highlight of the game could easily be the leaping catch he took to dismiss Glenn Maxwell. Hardik Pandya is in good spirits and can easily be depended to deliver as the odds mount up for Mumbai Indians.
3. AB de Villiers
When is this man not in form? AB de Villiers, who took a sabbatical from international cricket last year, picked up right where he left off for the Royal Challengers. Definitely the pick among the batsman for RCB, De Villiers has been more mature and clinical in his innings.
He scored a match-winning innings of 57 off 40 deliveries to beat Kings XI Punjab earlier in the week. While he couldn’t quite get going against Rajasthan Royals in the last match, back AB de Villiers to score against a considerably weaker bowling unit tonight.
4. Virat Kohli
The verdict is still out on Virat Kohli on whether he has been playing well. Moreover, has he been playing well enough for Virat Kohli? Not yet. Kohli, who comes with tremendous expectations, hasn’t really delivered. Nevertheless, scoring 109 runs in three matches is not bad by any standards.
But with Royal Challengers unable to win their matches, Kohli’s season looks a little bleak. IPL 2018 Fantasy League players aren’t complaining though, because the RCB captain gets them points and they expect the same in the match against Mumbai Indians.
5. Chris Woakes
Seven wickets in three games isn’t a bad record for an overseas fast bowler playing his first season for Royal Challengers. In the previous edition of the IPL, Woakes took an impressive 17 wickets and was spearheading the Kolkata Knight Riders bowling attack. And with seven wickets already, Woakes looks like he is in the zone so you can expect quite a few wickets from the Englishman in the coming fixtures. His ability to pick wickets during the death overs also makes him an ideal choice for your IPL 2018 Fantasy League squad.
