West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo starred with the bat as Chennai defeated the defending champions Mumbai by 1 wicket in the inaugural Indian T20 League at the Wankhede Stadium here on Stadium. Asked to bat, Hardik Pandya (22 not out) and Krunal Pandya (41 not out) batted brilliantly to help Mumbai reach the total of 165/4.
Later, middle-order batsman Dwayne Bravo played a blistering 68 run knock off 30 balls to help Chennai get close to the victory, before he was dismissed by Bumrah. However, Kedar Jadhav (24 not out) took charge of the proceedings and helped the visitors clinch victory with one ball to spare. For Mumbai, Hardik Pandya and Mayank Markande picked up three wicket each but failed to help their side, clinch victory.
In the chase, Chennai started on a disappointing note as they kept losing wicket at regular interval of time. In the top order Ambati Rayudu (22) got amongst the runs but failed to convert it into a big total. Thanks to a cautious knock from Jadhav, who hitted one boundary and two sixes in his 22 balls innings to help his side clinch the victory. Meanwhile, Bravo, the star of the match smashed seven sixes and three boundaries in his 30 ball knock. Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Mumbai Indian off to a poor star as Deepak Chahar removed Even Lewis for not, within the first two overs.
